Congratulations to 3 Star Kids Farm Resort for the opening of their resort business in Cavit and to Muladbucad White Beach for introducing their new kayaks for boating.

Economic progress only comes with the establishment of private enterprises and when these establishments are allowed to thrive.  A common characteristic of poor communities is the over-dependence on government and the marked absence of private businesses, or the lack thereof.  So with the inauguration of businesses, especially ones that neither devalue the environment nor are inimical to public morals, comes development.

An diit o kakulangan ki mga pribadong negosyo iyo an saro sa nagpapailing na bako progresibo an sarong komunidad.

Resorts and similar tourism-related businesses will drive the growth of local tourism.  They give tourists, both local and out-of-town tourists, recreation as well as income for the owners.  This then propels further economic activity such as employment for local construction workers, income for the transportation sector who will be catering to the influx of tourists, income for other businesses like hardware stores, restaurants, water refilling stations, market vendors, sari-sari stores, local sellers of gasoline and diesel, souvenir shops for Manito products like samod,  and a variety of other businesses and employment opportunities.

As we hope for the continued success of these tourism establishments, we could not but take note of the local government’s role in the entire process.  One glaring related concern is local transportation.  Tourism needs quality public transportation.

Kaipuhan kan turismo an de kalidad na pangpublikong transportasyon.

Manito still only offers overloaded jeepneys as the sole means of transport for tourists and residents.  There has not been any concrete action on the need to provide more convenient alternatives such as the UV Express van service.

Dae pang kongkretong aksyon manungod sa marhay na pampublikong transportasyon na makakatabang sa turismo siring kan UV Express van service.

Another hot summer season is approaching and we still don’t have public transportation that can take advantage of the now beautiful roads and the few new and upgraded tourism establishments.  It is to the interest of every Manito resident thate4 we support our tourism sites and push for better public transportation.
