Survey Says Public Approves

Cartoon by Reymark Banania

91% of Filipinos trust President Duterte during this early stage of his Presidency according to the most recent Pulse Asia survey.  It is record-breaking for a Philippine President and is all the more impressive since the remaining 8% of the respondents do not even distrust him but are merely undecided.  Only .2% expressed distrust.  That's less than half of one-half percent.

The President must act swiftly and ride on this momentum.  His Administration must make sure that this trust is recompensed with clear actions from the national level down to the farthest Barangays and Sitios of Manito, Albay.  He must strike while the iron is hot.  His crackdown on drugs, orders of strict observance of working hours by government workers, implementation of all laws, promotion of peace and order, control of noise levels and loud music in neighborhoods, curfews, simplification and streamlining of government services, the fight for Scarborough Shoal and the Spratlys for natural gas and fisheries, and other orders must be implemented and monitored down to the Municipal and Barangay levels.

This early trust rating survey shows a clear mandate from the people.  People are behind Duterte's “corruption must stop” and “galit ako sa drugs”.  LGUs – the Municipal and Barangay officials -- must see to it that these are implemented quickly.  National Government Agencies like the PNP and the BIR should have concerted efforts that will curb criminality and corruption  and actively preserve peace and order.

Public officers and workers are also enjoined to implement laws.  Manito should no longer be a place like other places in the country where laws are ignored by both the people and public officials.

Strike while the iron is hot.  Move where your leader legitimately takes you.  Act with the pace and determination that he has set.  Serve the people.  No more excuses.  Change should come to Manito.

Pagsilbihan ang taumbayan.  Tama na ang mga palusot.  Kailangang makarating ang pagbabago sa Manito.
